A Factual Profile On Alcohol

Drunk driving has been a major contributor to the most deaths in the United States. In 2016, on average, a person would die every fifty minutes. This shows how horrible driving under intoxication can be. Not to mention the consequences and risk factors involved. Things such as having the potential to kill someone, having links to depression, and facing charges that can create more difficulties financially. Understanding what your limits are with alcohol is important.

Once the alcohol has been entered into your system, your stomach and small intestine absorb it. Then, the alcohol flows through your bloodstream, where it accumulates; and metabolized by the liver. The name used to measure the amount of alcohol per deciliter of blood (g/dL), is called Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC). In all fifty states, the limit of .08 g/dL. Meaning if you go over, you will be arrested. At this point, many side effects occur.

With muscle coordination becoming poor, having low concentration, and short-term memory loss, .08g/dL is the legal limit. Anything higher will get you arrested, and causes more hazardous driving and many effects.
