My city of El Paso, Texas, went through some weird weather patterns of the middle two weeks in October. With El Paso contributing greatly to pollution that causes greenhouse gases, makes the community more vulnerable to harsh consequences. The nation says El Paso contains many chemicals in the air, making this city the most polluted one in the country. In contributing to air, land, and marine pollution.
Understanding how greenhouse gases and the causes of them becomes important on how to stop pollutants from the air. Increasing greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, leads to the greenhouse effect. A regular greenhouse helps grow crops that do not grow in the season and traps the heat from the sun. The plants absorb trapped heat and partly release the visible sunlight radiation, resulting in higher temperatures and plants growth. Similarly, the earth compares to a greenhouse because it obtains warmth, a necessary component for our survival. Without the natural greenhouse effect, earth’s temperature will be negative eighteen degrees Celsius (a little bit below zero degrees Fahrenheit). Sunlight penetrates the gas layer of the atmosphere and partly absorbed and partly reflective like the greenhouse. The particles in the air make sure the reflected radiation goes back to earth.
However, humans produce large amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. This creates a thicker gas layer the amount of radiation goes back to earth and unable to escape. Causing higher temperatures, a rise in sea levels, and more catastrophic weather changes.
El Paso’s air pollution causes many problems in the community ranging from respiratory problems to premature death. The burning of fossil fuels such as coal and oil to make electricity and used for transportation, the sign of air pollution becomes noticeable. The main highlight of El Paso, the Franklin Mountains, the smog of pollution hovers over the city and the mountains.
The gray “cloud” of harming particles, bums me out as this beautiful city colored with a variety of cultures, people, and entertainment, seems unappealing. Personally, I hiked on the Franklin Mountains and seen the pollution hover over the city. Going hiking and seeing waste such as paper cups, alcoholic containers, and glass, the mountains made me upset of just how much do not people care. People who treat the world around them as their own trash can, only will affect them later on.
Coming together as a community to stop such harmful substances going in the atmosphere and creating a stronger bond together, will make other groups look at us and admire how we interact and work to a specific goal. If the earth increases above the average temperature of one more or even point-five degree Celsius, then the whole earth will experience sea level rises, more disastrous weather, and more death rates due to dangerous weather. We only have less than twenty years to fix ourselves and actually do something to prevent this overwhelming problem. Reducing carbon dioxide, and other greenhouse gases, by using other methods of traveling and many other ways. Click on the link below to find out more.
However, actually convincing people becomes difficult. Hosting a meeting to portray all the harmful things people are doing, will drastically motivate people to help our community. The meeting could stream live on all devices, held at a center for talking to an audience and asking for their ideas on the topic makes better results, or write a blog about the topic. Either way, convincing and motivating the people may drastically help the earth and become a safer an environment overall.
