What in the world is Lifeteen!?
Life Teen is simply a Catholic youth ministry organization and movement originating in the United States. Life Teen in Catholic churches ranges from youth groups to even a dedicated teen mass.
-The ministry of LifeTeen Mass Evaluation-
I am grateful to have had the opportunity to help create a ministry at my church that follows the LifeTeen curriculum. This ministry is a Catholic mass that is targeted toward the youth if the church. The mass is a mass fully ran by teen members. This includes a teen choir, hospitality, and Eucharistic ministers. I gladly had the opportunity to lead the teen choir and be part of the core team along with other teens and adults.
What is mass?
In case you don’t know what a Catholic mass is or consists of, basically, it is a service given every Sunday (or weekly) where Catholics celebrate the gift of the Eucharist (a Christian ceremony commemorating the Last Supper, in which bread and wine are consecrated and consumed). Going to Mass is about spending time with God, but also receiving his graces (inner strength to live the Christian life).

Evaluating the situation.
Since the first initial mass in may, there have been lots of room for improvement in the way that the preparation for this mass is done. Since we only have a mass on specific dates, it is hard to plan out individual planning tasks for the different groups that put together the mass. One good thing that has happened during the first two masses that we have had is the involvement of getting adults to help teens put this together. Since we have had the help of these adults we have been able to have a successful amount of participation from teens attending the mass and helping out as well. One downfall that we have had in this ministry is the lack of commitment we’ve had from teens serving in the mass. Though this is a growing ministry, we still don’t have the number of people to run a mass truly by teens. In the last masses, we have had adults participating in the service rather than attending. Hopefully, God willing, as more teens join the ministry it will grow.
